Pelosi Claims Democrats Will Retake House, Predicts Hakeem Jeffries as Speaker in 2026 [WATCH]

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi conveyed her optimism regarding the Democratic Party’s prospects of regaining the House of Representatives in the midterm elections of 2026. She made these remarks on Thursday during the Voters of Tomorrow summit, as reported by Fox News.

The veteran California legislator also forecasted that House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., would ascend to the position of Speaker if the Democrats manage to reclaim control.

“We have no doubt that we will win the election with the House of Representatives,” Pelosi stated to the Gen Z activist audience, which elicited applause. She reinforced her assertion by adding, “No doubt,” in response to the enthusiastic reaction.

Pelosi, who has led House Democrats for two decades, emphasized that preparation would be crucial for flipping the House’s control. She drew parallels between the current political landscape and the years 2006 and 2018, during which Democrats achieved significant midterm victories. Pelosi highlighted the necessity of a year-ahead strategy and early infrastructure development for effective messaging, mobilization, and fundraising.

“It’s important to be strong in the year in advance, because that’s when the troops line up,” Pelosi remarked. “We have our messaging, we have our mobilization, we need the money to do it, but they go only next to a school to hold up the most important part: the candidate.”

In addition to organizing efforts, Pelosi pinpointed the reduction of President Donald Trump’s approval ratings as a primary goal for Democrats as they approach 2026. She described Trump’s current polling as “terrible” and stated that decreasing his numbers would be a significant focus.

“By October — certainly by November, but by October, we will have — with the help of so many people working — we’ll have taken what’s his name’s numbers down,” she commented, deliberately refraining from directly naming President Trump.

According to a recent poll conducted by Fox News, President Trump has an approval rating of 46%, while 54% of respondents disapprove — marking an improvement compared to his polling figures at the same time during the 2016 election cycle, when his approval was recorded at 41%.

The Voters of Tomorrow summit showcased several prominent Democrats, including former Vice President Kamala Harris, Representative Ro Khanna from California, Representative Jamie Raskin from Maryland, and activist David Hogg. Both Harris and Raskin are set to provide virtual remarks to the participants.

Pelosi, who resigned from her leadership position following the 2022 midterm elections, remains actively involved in the party and regularly attends events aligned with the Democratic Party.
