Border czar Tom Homan on Monday pledged to press forward with operations in New York City and other sanctuary cities, even as the Trump administration moves to take legal action against Los Angeles and other jurisdictions refusing to cooperate with federal law enforcement.
“We’re going to be in New York City and President Trump said it two weeks ago,” Homan told reporters. “We’re going to double down and triple down on sanctuary cities. Why? Not because they’re a blue city or a blue state… because we know that’s where the problem is.”
“They’re releasing public safety threats and national security threats to the streets every day,” he said. “We know that. We don’t have that problem in Florida, where every sheriff in the state is working with us. I’ve said it before, we’ll flood the zone on sanctuary cities.”
Homan’s comments come on the heels of the passage of the One Big, Beautiful Bill Act, which allocates funding for Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to hire up to 10,000 additional agents. President Trump has pledged to deport as many as 21 million illegal immigrants.
Last week, Homan condemned CNN for promoting an app that allows users to track ICE agents, urging the Justice Department to launch an investigation into the app. Called ICEBlock, the app lets users report the locations of ICE agents in real-time. The Daily Wire highlighted both the app and CNN’s on-air promotion of it to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.
“It sounds like this would be an incitement of further violence against our ICE officers,” Leavitt said. “It’s unacceptable that a major network would promote such an app that is encouraging violence against law enforcement officers who are trying to keep our country safe.”
“It’s only a matter of time before ICE officers are going to be ambushed by some nut, like what happened in L.A., throwing a Molotov cocktail, throwing bricks at these officers,” Homan said. “This is just disgusting at every level, so I hope DOJ dives in this deeply, because ICE is concentrating on public safety threats and national security threats.”
