Elizabeth Warren found herself in a difficult situation after she shared a link to the contentious ActBlue fundraising page to request donations for the California wildfires. Observant critics quickly pointed out that, contrary to her assertion that “100% of your donation will go directly” to local organizations, almost 4% of each contribution would be allocated to the Democratic super PAC.
To provide some background, ActBlue is a Democratic fundraising platform that has encountered significant backlash from Republicans following accusations of fraud, identity theft, and money laundering directed at the left-leaning organization.
The controversy began when Warren took to X on January 11, 2025, to appeal for donations. She stated, “To help support the communities around L.A. being devastated by wildfires, can you split a donation between the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation and United Way of Greater Los Angeles? 100% of your donation will go directly to these organizations:”
In the comments section of her post, conservatives rushed to highlight her questionable tactics. One comment remarked, “This [unpleasant woman] is soliciting donations off the backs of those suffering in the LA fires. These donations go directly to ActBlue, the Democratic dark money site. Do not donate to any politician, find a reputable site if you must.”
Expanding on this criticism, another user commented, “@actblue ACT BLUE is a democrat money laundering scam. Also….using ActBlue for donations for fire victims so they can use the list for future Dem campaigns is diabolical.” In agreement with the earlier denunciation, a reply stated, “You are sending people to ActBlue – A Dem SuperPAC – you shameless clown.”
Pointing out the typical hypocrisy of Democrats, one comment questioned, “Where was that energy for North Carolina? They are still living in tents with little to NO HELP! They had to wait 8hrs in line to get propane because they will freeze to death. And you wonder why people dislike you, this is why! It’s always the rich paying for the rich.
Outraged by Elizabeth Warren’s inappropriate conduct, one commenter remarked, “Um…..why are you persuading individuals to contribute to a Democrat campaign site, rather than directly to the charities you referenced? 🧐Good Lord….don’t you ever grow weary of deceiving hardworking Americans, or nah?”
Continuing the intense criticism, a woman inquired, “Why are you attempting to deceive people into donating to ActBlue, notorious for money laundering and defrauding individuals, instead of encouraging donations directly to the LAFD? You Democrats possess absolutely ZERO shame, don’t you?” Echoing a similar sentiment, one user stated, “Fundraising off a disaster for political gain is both reprehensible and entirely characteristic of Democrats.”
In response to the disreputable message, Chester Tam, who was involved in Trump’s 2024 campaign, tweeted, “‘Secured by ActBlue’? Contributing through the Warren for Senate campaign site is the least advisable action if you wish to support efforts for the California fires. How much of that money do you believe will actually benefit Warren’s campaign? Once again, Democrats take advantage of a disaster for their own benefit.”
