Bill Clinton Released From Hospital After Illness

Former President Bill Clinton has been discharged from the hospital after being treated for a fever, reports said on Wednesday.

The 78-year-old former commander-in-chief was diagnosed with the flu and received treatment at a hospital in the Washington, D.C., area. He was discharged on Tuesday, Dec. 24, according to a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter) by his deputy chief of staff, Angel Ureña, People magazine reported.

“… His family are deeply grateful for the exceptional care provided by the team at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and are touched by the kind messages and well wishes he received,” Ureña continued. “He sends his warmest wishes for a happy and healthy holiday season to all.”

The day before, Ureña shared on X that Clinton was admitted for “testing and observation” but remained in “good spirits.”

A source also told NBC News the situation with Clinton is “not urgent.” The insider continued, “The former president will be fine. He developed a fever and wanted to be checked out. He is awake and alert.”

Clinton will be home for Christmas, though it remains uncertain how this will impact his annual tradition of spending the holiday with his daughter Chelsea’s family, including her three children—Charlotte, 8, Aidan, 6, and Jasper, 3—alongside his wife, Hillary Clinton.

“Hillary says I’ve always been our family’s Christmas elf,” Bill said in 2021.

“We always go down on Christmas Eve, spend the night and have Christmas Day with them,” he continued. “And I think it’s the right thing to do, intergenerationally. And then we normally go to the train display at the Bronx Zoo. It’s great.”

Earlier this year, the Clinton’s appeared to reluctantly endorse Vice President Kamala Harris to become the Democratic Party nominee after President Joe Biden succumbed to a massive pressure campaign and ended his reelection bid following a poor debate showing against now-President-elect Donald Trump.

“We are honored to join the President in endorsing Vice President Harris and will do whatever we can to support her,” they wrote in a statement posted to social media. “We’ve lived through many ups and downs, but nothing has made us more worried for our country than the threat posed by a second Trump term.”

They added in conclusion: “Now is the time to support Kamala Harris and fight with everything we’ve got to elect her. America’s future depends on it.”

Hillary lost to Trump in 2016, as he scored a resounding electoral victory.

The Clintons, like many other Democrats, claim without evidence that Trump will “be a dictator on day one” of a new term and “shred the Constitution” while avoiding any mention of Biden’s horrid record of inflation, a chaotic southern border, and new wars overseas, as well as his record of going after Trump using the Justice Department.

At the time, former President Barack Obama dropped a long statement about his former vice president.

“We will be navigating uncharted waters in the days ahead. But I have extraordinary confidence that the leaders of our party will be able to create a process from which an outstanding nominee emerges. I believe that Joe Biden’s vision of a generous, prosperous, and united America that provides opportunity for everyone will be on full display at the Democratic Convention in August. And I expect that every single one of us are prepared to carry that message of hope and progress forward into November and beyond,” Obama added.

Obama added: “For now, Michelle and I just want to express our love and gratitude to Joe and Jill for leading us so ably and courageously during these perilous times — and for their commitment to the ideals of freedom and equality that this country was founded on.”
