Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi believes she knows who will campaign for president in her party, and the name might surprise you.
In a recent piece by The Detroit Free Press, the California Democrat said that former Chicago Mayor and former White House aide, Rahm Emanuel, will look to take back the White House for the Democrats.
The piece began with the paper interviewing Emanuel about the possibility of his running for president.
“We can’t get distracted by the cultural issues and lose sight of what Americans care about and what impacts them, which is a shot at the American dream,” the former Chicago mayor said.
“We have to be able to stand up to the interest groups. We can’t look weak and woke”—he had recently started saying “weak and woke” a lot—“we need to be grounded and centered,” he said.
When asked if he would campaign for president in 2028, Emanuel did not say no, which usually tells politicians that the answer is yes.
“Before I make a decision, I want to know that I have an answer to what I think ails our country, ails our politics, and ails the party—and they may all be the same answer,” the former mayor said.
“I know what I want to do,” he said. “We’ve got to get ready to fight for America—and that’s what I’m going to do.”
When the reporter asked Pelosi—who’s known Rahm Emanuel since his Clinton White House days—if she thought he’d run in 2028, the longtime Democrat didn’t hesitate.
I think so,” she told this reporter.
But President Donald Trump has his eyes on another Democratic contender for 2028.
He had some fun at the Democrats’ expense last month, suggesting they lean into the far left and nominate two of his loudest critics for national office.
In a Truth Social post, Trump mocked the party for its brutal 2024 election loss and floated a sarcastic idea to help them stay relevant.
“After years of being left out in the cold, including suffering one of the Greatest Losses in History, the 2024 Presidential Election, the Democrats should nominate Low IQ Candidate, Jasmine Crockett, for President, and AOC+3 should be, respectively, Vice President, and three High Level Members of the Cabinet – Added together with our future Communist Mayor of New York City, Zohran Mamdani, and our Country is really SCREWED!” Trump wrote.
Both Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Jasmine Crockett have gone hard after Trump lately, especially over his immigration policy, the economy, and his latest military action against Iran.
Ocasio-Cortez even claimed Trump should be impeached for not getting Congress to sign off on the strikes.
However, Trump didn’t stop there.
In a separate post, he torched New York Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani—a self-proclaimed socialist who just beat Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary for NYC mayor.
“It’s finally happened, the Democrats have crossed the line,” Trump said. “Zohran Mamdani, a 100% Communist Lunatic, has just won the Dem Primary, and is on his way to becoming Mayor.”
Trump showed no hesitation.
“We’ve had Radical Lefties before, but this is getting a little ridiculous,” he wrote. “He looks TERRIBLE, his voice is grating, he’s not very smart, he’s got AOC+3, Dummies ALL, backing him, and even our Great Palestinian Senator, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, is groveling over him. Yes, this is a big moment in the History of our Country!”
That same week, Crockett dropped out of the campaign to be the top Democrat on a critical committee investigating former President Joe Biden’s alleged mental deterioration.
Crockett, a Democratic firebrand, was vying for the position of next-ranking member (the senior member of the minority party) on the House Oversight Committee.
